Back to Blogging │ lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

So, very long time no speak!
It has been almost four months since I last wrote a post, here on my blog, but I do have good reason for it. A lot of things have happened in that time that kind of knocked me off track a bit. One thing in particular happened just after my last blog post and that was the main reason that I haven't been blogging, and I am not going to go into it at all. But now, after a few months things have gone kind of back to normal and after having a bit of a set back in terms of my anxiety, I am now feeling a lot happier and more myself. I now feel like I am going to actually come across as myself in posts, and am confident that I will come across happy and passionate about the content of my posts. Whereas, a month or so ago, I almost definitely would of just been writing posts for the sake of it. I love to write here, on my blog, and have my own little space to share my passions and interests with people who have the same passions and interests, so I was always going to come back to writing my blog. It was just a matter of time, and that time is now! So keep checking back for new posts twice a week to start off with, until I get back into the swing of things and am able to work my blog back into my routine and in between work. I am really excited to share lots of new posts with you! I have also accumulated a rather large stash of empty products over the last few months so there will be a huge empties post coming very shortly!

What would you like to see, here on my blog in the future?

Topshop Wishlist │ lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

Now, I'm not usually one for Topshop clothing, I don't know what it is but I never seem to find much that I like in there. However, recently they have had some really nice bits in so once again I have been browsing the New In section and have picked out my favourite pieces. I am definitely going to be picking up that Khaki Bomber Jacket next payday!

March Favourites │ lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

As it's now the first of April (already?!), I thought that I would tell you about some of the products that I have been praising for the last month! I have actually got quite a few favourites this months, maybe even twice as many as I usually have. I have been switching up the make-up products that I use a lot more regularly than I usually do, and have finished a few products so gone on to use something else that I've loved! So, maybe get yourself a cup of tea and get comfy because this could be quite a lengthy post.

I have rediscovered my love for this foundation this month, after being hooked on the L'Oreal True Match foundation for a good couple of months. As I've already said, I've been switching up my make-up routine a lot more this past month and been digging up my old favourites. I love this foundation. I love the finish of it, it gives a good coverage, but nothing too cakey. I have a lot of redness around my nose, and recently on my cheeks too and this covers it right up. I don't know why I ever pushed this to the back of my dressing table drawer, because it's definitely one of my favourite all time foundations!

I only got this product half way through the month but it has fast become my concealer of choice for using under my eyes. It's quite a runny consistency, so feels light when worn underneath my eyes, but it still covers everything that I want it to. It also doesn't crease on me which is brilliant! The only thing I don't like about it is that it comes out of the pump quite quick, so I find myself wasting some of the excess product that squirted onto my hand.

Recently, I had found myself reaching for the Zoeva Silk Finish Brush every time if was applying foundation, because it was there, closed by, and all I had to do was dab it in the foundation and blend it into my face. I stopped using the Real Techniques Sponge, purely because I couldn't be bothered to go to the bathroom and dampen the sponge. I guess you could say I became quite lazy with applying my make-up and just found myself wanting to get it slapped onto my face as quickly as I could. However, I decided to get up off my bum and dampen the sponge and it honestly makes blending out foundation and concealer so effortless and it helps to blend everything out seamlessly. I always reach for my Real Techniques sponge now, it makes make-up application so mu quicker and easier.

I bought this for my holiday to Mallorca last year, to use on the plane as a bit of a skin refresher so that the flight didn't dry my skin out too much. I used it once on the flight there, and again on the flight home and had just forgotten about it since then. This month I have started to use it regularly. I have quite sensitive skin and at the moment it is also very dry. Whenever I feel like my skin is in need of a pick me up I just give it a few spritzes of this and it just refreshes my skin and makes it feel less agitated. I also like to use it in place of my toner occasionally, just as an extra treat for my skin. Love love love.

Can this count as a March favourite if I only rediscovered it a few days ago? I'm going to count it anyway. I completely forgot that I owned this nail varnish, until I was sifting through my nail varnish drawer because I just couldn't decide which colour to chose. I have been loving pastel colours recently, as we've come into Spring so rediscovering this came at the right time! I have completely fallen back in love with this nail varnish. It has quite a wide brush applicator, so covers your nail in no time. The formula is quite thick, so two coats and you're done, and it's super glossy which I absolutely love. After rediscovering my love for this nail varnish, I definitely want to look into getting some other shades from the range as this is the only one I own.

As I previously mentioned, my skin has been super dry recently and I am partly to blame because I was using a Tea Tree toner which is a drying product in itself. I was using the Tea Tree toner when I got a few little breakouts, to help dry out the spots and rid my face of them quicker. I didn't have much of that product left and didn't want to push it to the back of my skincare drawer like that, so continued to use it until it was empty which, I guess, added to the dryness of my skin. I know, I only have myself to blame, but now that toner is empty, I started to use my back up, The Body Shop's Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. I am all about any skincare product that contains the word hydrating at the minute, so this came at the perfect time. Since swapping this for the Tea Tree one, I have noticed that my skin is slowly getting back to the normal balance between dry and oily that it usually is. You don't need much and you can't really feel it on your skin which is brilliant for me because I don't like to feel my skincare products sitting on the surface of my skin. I like to know that they are sinking in and working right down through the layers in my skin.

Superdrug Mud Therapy Raspberry Exfoliationg Mud Mask -
I have had this mask for rather a long time, but not really used it because if I use a face mask that I love, I tend to stick to it until it runs out. I am now hooked on this one, it has raspberry seeds and apricot kernels in it so when you massage it onto your skin, they exfoliate and remove those dead skin cells. It is a clay mask so super cleansing and purifying. I always find that after using this my skin feels very refreshed and a lot smoother too. I'm sure you'll be seeing this in an empties post soon because I have a feeling this will be my face mask of choice until it runs out!

Shaving soap, a bit of a weird one, I know. But, as 'leg shaving season' is back in have been shaving my legs a lot more often that I would do during the winter. I know I'm not the only to do this, admit it, you all do it too! I have been using this instead of a shaving foam or cream. I just get a little dollop and rub it between my fingers and then massage it onto my skin. I feel like it softens the hairs and the skin, making it easier for my razor to glide along the skin and cut the hairs. It also leaves your skin so, amazingly soft afterwards so almost no need for a body butter!

I got this not too long ago, as you will know if you saw my little Avon Haul, but I already love it! I have used it maybe three times, in between my shampoo and conditioner, and have noticed a significant difference in the softness of my hair each time. It makes my hair so, unbelievably soft, and even takes away some of the natural frizz that I get in my hair which is a massive bonus! Since I had about five inches chopped off the lengths of my hair, it's condition has improved immensely and I am doing everything that I can to keep it that way. I already know that this is going to be one of those products that I always go to to keep my hair in good condition and give it a pick me up when it's looking a bit dull.

Drugstore Haulin' │ lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

Today, as you may have already seen from the title, I have yet another haul. It's another miniature haul, but it's still a haul. I really need to stop spending money on beauty products, especially skincare, I literally have back ups for everything, and even back ups for back ups! Therefore, I am putting myself on another spending ban. I will only buy a product if it is something that I use on a regular basis and when I run out, I have no back up. Then, but only then, I can buy beauty products! My addiction to all things beauty is becoming a real problem for my bank balance, so I am now doing something about it, haha. This will be the last haul that you see on here for a while, that is, if I stick to my word and my spending ban! Anyway, onto the haul!

Everything in this haul is either from Boots or Superdrug, so somewhat affordable. Firstly, and my favourites, the make-up bits. I have a major obsession with lip products, so couldn't resist picking up a few more. I got another shade of the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in Minimalist, a gorgeous pink, perfect for Spring and Summer. I bought one of the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque lip lacquers in the shade Rosé on the Rocks which is, shock horror, another pink shade! I then got a lip liner, because I really want to get into using them more. I got the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in the shade Red Rush, a vibrant red shade, my favourite shade of red to wear for Spring and Summer. I really didn't need this one, but I couldn't resist because I love nude shades for my nails, so I got a Nails Inc Nail Varnish in the shade Porchester Square. Some people may think it's quite boring but I think nude shades are timeless and are suitable for any time of year. Next another Maybelline Color Tattoo, but this time in the Leather Effect and in the shade Creamy Beige. I'm a big fan of the Maybelline Color Tattoos and just had to add another neutral coloured eyeshadow to my vast collection! Finally, on the make-up front, is possibly my new favourite brow product. That's a bold statement, I know. I may be doing a full review on this product very soon, it's the Maybelline Brow Satin, a duel ended eyebrow saviour! I got mine in the shade Medium Brown.

I also got a couple of skincare items, both being cleansers which I really didn't need but really wanted to try. The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser is one that I have wanted to try for absolutely ages and I even included it in my 2015 Beauty Wishlist. However, it wasn't too easy to get hold of, but now that it is stocked by Boots it is a lot more readily available, to me anyway. I got the starter kit, which came with a 100ml bottle of the cleanser itself and a muslin cloth, all kept in a cute little Liz Earle pouch. I can't wait to try this and a full review will be coming eventually, I'm sure. Lastly is the Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser. It claims to gently exfoliate, retexture, cleanse, purify, hydrate and smooth your skin, all in one go, so I have to give it a go! I love a good multi tasking product.

Missguided Wishing │ lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry for that this is my first post this week, I've just not had a very good week at all, but I'm back so anyway. A couple of weeks ago, I did a Boohoo Wishlist post. Now, I'm back with a Missguided Wishlist. I am loving the New In section on the Missguided website recently, even more than I usually do! So, I thought that I would use my little space on the blogosphere to make a wishlist that I can come back to for inspiration when I'm buying some new clothes for Spring and Summer. I am in love with the 70's trends that are starting to come into stores so be prepared for a lot of tan, fringing and tassles!

Avon Haul + Blogging from my iPad | lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

I thought, today, that I would try writing a post from my iPad just to see how it turns out. I will probably never do this again, but I won't know if I don't try! So today I'm just going to be showing you a few bits that I picked up from Avon. Avon isn't a brand that you hear about very often so I thought that sharing my thoughts would give some of you an idea about it if you'd not heard about them before! I have mentioned the fact that my Mum is an Avon rep before, and I absolutely love it and I probably order every time she does, which is every three weeks. I love their make-up and body products, but particularly love their range of haircare, called Advance Techniques. So, I picked up a couple of haircare bits and then a few make-up items too!

First, the haircare bits. The Moroccan Argan Oil range is possibly the only one of their haircare ranges that I haven't tried, but I know that my Mum loves it and therefore, I know that I will too! Our hair type is very similar and so what works for one tends to work for the other. I bought the 360 nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil Mask and also the Leave-in Treatment. As I have mentioned before, I am a huge fan of hair masks and am actually coming to the end of my last one, so I needed to pick up another because I can't be without a nourishing hair mask in my life! I bought the leave-in treatment to use on those days when I don't have the time to wait for a hair mask to work its magic for however long. A leave-in treatment is a quick and easy solution to give your hair a little extra treat and nourishment! Reviews will be coming on both of these products after they've been tested a few times.

Now for the make-up bits. I am a sucker for a good dupe, which is why I had to try these Colour Correcting Pearls. They are brand new to Avon and have been compared to the Guerlain equivalent, but they are a fraction of the price! I am definitely looking forward to trying these out and I'm hoping that they help to counteract the discolouration that I have going on on my face. Lipsticks are a product that I really can't get enough of. If I see a colour I like, I buy it. It doesn't matter if it is similar to one that I already own, I buy it anyway. I just love lipsticks! Here, I have the Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipstick in Stiletto Red and the Avon Ultra Colour Lipstick in a Scenic Peony. Both are gorgeous shades and I know that I will get a lot of use out of them. The fuchsia pink shade, Scenic Peony, will come in especially handy going into Spring!

Have you tried any products from Avon?

A Mini Mac Haul │ lipsticksandlevis

Hello everyone!

Mac is one of those brands that I love and I am constantly snooping through their website, but I just can't bring myself to buy the products very often because of their cost. Although all the products I have tried are amazing, they still come at a pretty hefty price and being a lover of all things beauty related and constantly wanting to try new things, I will save a bit of money when I can. So, as my Mum and Dad went on holiday last week, I asked them to pick up a few bits from the airport duty free for me. I have had my eye on a few things from Mac for a while now, so wrote my little list and gave it to my Mum.

From Left to Right: Lipstick in Pure Zen, Lipstick in Faux, Pro Longwear Concealer in shade NC15

I am always a fan of Mac lipsticks so they had to go on my shopping list. Recently, I have been really into nudes from the peaches and pinks to the slightly more brown nudes. I love them all so had to pick up a couple more! Pure Zen is a typical 'me' colour and I know that I will be wearing this to absolute death in Spring and Summer. Faux is one that I have had my eye on for ages, and I hear it is to thank for that famous lip look that Kylie Jenner wears. I love her make-up looks so that made me more certain of buying it. I also got the Pro Longwear concealer in the shade NC15, as I have heard amazing things about this concealer and I have quite dark circles all around my eyes and will try anything to banish them and make me look more awake! We are planning a holiday abroad for September, so I am already preparing my duty free shopping list for then!

What are your favourite Mac products?
